Wide Area Search (PER-212)
Participants will learn practical search methods and skills in order to
perform systematic searches over a large effected area. The course
concludes with a tabletop exercise that requires participants to utilize
the previous two days of instruction. The curriculum of this course in
based on lessons learned from search operations in support of the Space
Shuttle Columbia recovery, Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Dolly, Ike and
other wide area search incidents.
Training begins promptly at 0800. Lunch will be on your own .

Course Tuition and Travel Cost:
There is no fee for the course. Lunch and
travel expenses are the responsibility of the participant.
Homeland Security Grant program (HSGP) funds are approved for this
course.
Prerequisites:
Required: None. Recommended: Participants should Complete
IS-100 – Intro to the Incident Command System or equivalent and IS- 200
– ICS for Single resources and Initial Action Incidents or Equivalent.
Course Completion:
Students, who actively participate, and attend entire course, will
receive a Texas Engineering Extension Service Certificate of Completion.
*POST credit is available for Idaho enforcement |
